It was a cool place if you like that style. Food was good.
Old and dated, but clean. If you like antiques, you'll be right at home. Ricky the manager is very accommodating. Bar was open late. The grounds are nice. Gardner starts early, before 7:30 on a Sunday.
We thought it would be fun to celebrate our anniversary with a night at the small independent hotel in Hanford. It was "historical"! The minute we pulled in we thought it strange that there wasn't a single other car in the parking lot. There was a homeless guy set up in the corner and a various vagrants wandering through the parking lot (some even stopped to see what they could steal from the sleeping homeless guy). The bar was completely empty on a Saturday night and by all appearances so was this entire hotel. We walked up the stairs to our room, open the door and the first thing that hits you is a strong musty smell...and then we realize that there are no linens at all. The bed is stripped completely bare and someone's reusable water bottle is still in the room. He tries to call the front desk but lo and behold the phone doesn't work. He walks back to the front desk where they apologize and say that "housekeeping " told them it was ready for people. Ok, people make mistakes...they say they are going to "upgrade"our room. The new room is on the first floor approximately 15 feet from the previously mentioned homeless guys cart. This seems a little sketchy but let's check it out. This room is just as musty with 1980s dated decor (think wallpaper, pink stained carpet, pastel plastic picture frames, the works but in a super old Victorian style building. This time there were sheets etc but the blinds don't fully cover the windows. We tried to watch a little tv (old tube style) on the bed. We couldn't get any channels to work other than the basic (free channels) and tried to relax. We ended up leaving and going home after about an hour as we were unable to get comfortable and were worried about leaving our car in the parking lot. I would not recommend this place and I won't be back
This place was pretty bad. When we checked in we went to our room and found the bed stripped with someone's water bottle on the bed. We tried to use the phone to call the front desk and it wasn't working. We returned to the front desk and we're given an 'upgraded' room. The room was very dated. Cigarette burns on the carpet. Wicker headboard, old tube style tv and the cable didn't work well. The hotel is also in a pretty sketchy part of town. We ended up leaving after a few hours disappointed with the location.
My husband and I are on a 10 day motorcycle ride and booked Irwin Street Inn for Day 4. We got caught in a dust/sand storm in Death Valley and the motorcycles needed work. I called to move our reservation back a day or two until we knew how long it would take to fix the bike. No can do. We're being charged full price for the night, no credit given and now we'll NEVER book this hotel and we do these rides all the time.
